We report the phonon density of states of intrachain and interchain low-frequency modes in polythiophene. These new results were obtained by inelastic incoherent neutron scattering experiments. Raman, photoluminescence and X-ray diffraction spectra measured on the same samples are also reported. The behaviour of the low and high-frequency modes as a function of the crystallinity and conjugation is discussed.
