Radio-isotopes for preclinical and clinical applications - therapy and imaging

The CEMHTI laboratory is equipped with a fairly unique variable energy Cyclotron. Its versatility and the very high degree
of competences of associated technicians and scientists make it an extremely multidisciplinary machine and efficient instrument
with applications in various fields (solid state physics, materials properties
under irradiation, archeology, production of radionuclides…). The cyclotron is part of the national network EMIR (Etude des Matériaux sous Irradiation).
Radio-isotopes for preclinical and clinical applications - therapy and imaging
During the last years, the research and technical teams around the cyclotron have developed and optimized the production
and delivery of innovative radionuclides for imaging and therapy serving preclinical and clinical research at the national level.

Technical specifications
The CEMHTI cyclotron is an isochronous instrument with variable energy that produces 2000 high intensity beam hours per year on 4 different beam lines.
History
The CEMHTI cyclotron has been built from 1972 to 1974 by THOMSON-CSF
according specification by CNRS. It routinely provides high energy beams of ligth particles (neutrons, protons, deuterons, tritons and alpha) to users since 1976.
From 1981 to 2007 it served as a centre for neutronthérapy jointly with the local hospital serving an international community. Today its capacities are made available to
European networks (FP6, FP7) and to the national communitu in the EMIR network.
